McConnell Music Therapy Services, Inc. is a music therapy practice that provides music therapy services throughout the greater Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado and Nevada County areas of Northern California. 

Established in April of 2002, MMTS was founded by Tara McConnell, a board certified music therapist and Sacramento native. Tara believes that all persons, with all levels of ability, are people who can actively experience music. Music experience and how it functions within our brain, our heart and our spirit has the power to create change. MMTS brings the music experience to you, with clear treatment goals and research-based methods.

MMTS is committed to the individual needs of each and every client we serve and each and every employee in our practice. We promote active collaboration with other health-care professionals in creating a trans-disciplinary approach to treatment.

MUSIC THERAPY is defined as the specialized use of music by a credentialed professional who develops individualized treatment and supportive interventions with people of all ages and ability levels to address their social, communication, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory and spiritual needs.

The music therapist is specifically trained to use music as its own format for assessment, intervention, and measurable evaluation. All MMTS services are provided by a music therapist meeting all educational and training standards for clinical practice in music therapy, certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc, and professional membership in the American Music Therapy Association.
